The Greatest Story Ever Told
A Red Ryder BB Gun. That's what we're all looking
for in some way. That unattainable thing that seems beyond us.
That feeling was magnified as a child and I guess that's why we
all like A Christmas Story. We can all identify with it.
I personally voted for Scrooged. I
thought Bill Murray was just great in that movie. The little
things he did that made him a dick were just the best. Watch the
scene where he returns to the network building and intentionally
opens the revolving doors by putting his hands on the glass
instead of using the handle. Those little decisions as an actor
are just great and he fills that movie with them. The ending is
kind of cliched when he becomes a good guy. He is much more
interesting when he is being a prick but the test audience would
have frowned on an unhappy ending.
Did anyone see Jean Luc Picard's Scrooge? Any
good? I think I remember hearing that he had done a one man show
of the Dickens classic on Broadway. I just wonder if he was any
good when he only played Scrooge. Let me know what you thought.
If you're not moved at the end of It's a
Wonderful Life, you're not human. Miracle will make
you believe in Santa again. Christmas Vacation is very
funny. I usually try to watch it every Christmas just so I can
laugh at Randy Quaid. When he yells "The shitter was full!",
I almost lose it. It is the best Vacation movie in my
opinion.
I apologize for the lack of choices on this one
but I wanted movies that had a definite Christmas theme. Not just
movies that occurred during Christmas. I don't really have a lot
to say on this one either as I simply wanted a Christmas poll for
Christmas day.
